Fans from all over the world have waited for a Friends reunion for some time. Now, HBO has granted their wishes! Did fans love their favorite ’90s sitcoms reuniting? Read on to find out…
Friends Reunion: Worth Watching?

HBO Max
The long-awaited Friends reunion finally debuted at the end of May on HBO, 17 years after the show ended. Just like always, it started with “I’ll Be There for You” by The Rembrandts, and soon enough, actors Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer were sitting around reliving old memories. Just hours after the reunion ended, fans agreed: any Friends fan needs to watch the reunion.
As you might imagine, the cast spent most of the reunion telling stories and revealing behind-the-scenes tidbits. For instance, LeBlanc opened up about his audition – he actually managed to win the part off Joey even though he showed up with a bloody nose! Meanwhile, Schwimmer explained to viewers that he actually hated Marcel the monkey. That’s right! Just as many Friends fans predicted, the reunion also had its fair share of celebrity guests. From former guests of the show, like Tom Selleck, to Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga arriving in cosplay, the reunion had it all!
Afterward, the internet simply could not contain its excitement at their favorite Friends coming back together…
Going Viral

Of course, the old crew back together, sitting inside the old sets, brought up many emotions for fans. After all, as stated, they wanted a reunion like this for years! “I CRIED. NOT EVEN KIDDING. CRIED. LOOK AT THEM,” one fan wrote on Twitter. Some also pointed out that the cast seemed as happy to reunite as the fans felt to watch it! “Find someone who would look at you the way Chandler (Mathew Perry) looks at Joey(Matt LeBlanc),” another fan wrote on Twitter.
However, there was one moment, above the others by far, that surprised fans the most: Aniston and Schwimmer explained, just like their characters, there had been a real-life flirtation between them. “JENVID CONFIRMED, JENVID CONFIRMED AAAAAAAA,” one Friends fan wrote on Facebook. Sadly, not all the reactions were positive…
Not Without Controversy

Although the reactions were mostly positive, some controversy sparked as well. Perry, who played Chandler, has battled very public substance abuse issues – and some felt concerned at his appearance on the show. Ben Winston, the showrunner of the Friends reunion, responded to the hateful comments on social media.
“He was great,” Winston said, adding that Perry doesn’t struggle with substances anymore. “People can sometimes just be unkind. I wish they weren’t. I loved working with him. He’s a brilliantly funny man and I thought he had some great one-liners in the show. I felt just happy and lucky to be in his presence and directing him on something like this.”
Unfortunately, there was a downside to the reunion. The actors stated that it’s their last time being together – on TV at least. They said any future reunions would be a private affair. “Honestly, this will really make me cry, but this will be the last time that we’re ever asked about the show as a group that we will do this,” Cox said near the end. “Like, we’re not going to do this [again] in 15 more years.”
