It’s official! After being rumored about for some time, singer and actress Jennifer Hudson will make her daytime television host debut with the launch of her new talk show, The Jennifer Hudson Show this fall!
The Jennifer Hudson Show
Jennifer Hudson, a Grammy and Oscar winner, will begin hosting her own syndicated talk show, the aptly titled The Jennifer Hudson Show, in fall 2022. The show is a deal between Warner Brothers Television, who will produce the show, and Fox, who will carry the show. Meanwhile, Hearts Television Inc. and a few other local station groups have also joined to bring the show to audiences all over the United States.
Hudson will become the second American Idol to earn a daytime talk show, just behind Kelly Clarkson. Clarkson, the first winner of American Idol, has been hosting her eponymous show for three seasons now. And Hudson is excited to follow in her footsteps!
“I have experienced so much in my life; I’ve seen the highest of the highs, the lowest of the lows, and just about everything in between but as my mother always told me, ‘Once you think you’ve seen it all, just keep on living,'” Hudson explained in a statement on her forthcoming show. “People from around the world have been a part of my journey from the beginning — twenty years ago — and I’m so ready to join their journey as we sit down and talk about the things that inspire and move us all. I have always loved people and I cannot wait to connect on a deeper level and let audiences see the different sides of who I am, the human being, in return. And I couldn’t be more thrilled to do it alongside this incredible team. We’re about to have a lot of fun and shake things up a little bit!”
The show is just one of the significant shakeups coming to daytime television this year…
2022: A Year of Change
The Jennifer Hudson Show is not the only new talk show debuting this fall. Actress and comedian Sherri Shepherd will also launch her show, Sherri, this fall. Sherri will take over the Wendy Williams Show, which Lionsgate stopped producing this year. Ellen, which also ends this year after 19 seasons, executive producers Andy Lassner and Mary Connelly hope that The Jennifer Hudson Show will help fill the void of Ellen DeGeneres’ iconic talk show. So does the president of Warner Bros. Unscripted Television, Mike Darnell.
“I knew that Jennifer was a force to be reckoned with from the moment I met her nearly 20 years ago,” said Darnell when announcing The Jennifer Hudson Show. “From her Grammy-winning career in music, to her Oscar-winning acting career, Jennifer’s amazing talent, big heart and authenticity shine through in everything she does. I am thrilled to be working with her in this new role. She’s a natural, and I know audiences will embrace her in their homes every day.”
“As the syndication business continues to go through a major sea change, we need power players to re-energize talk shows and Jennifer Hudson is just that,” added the executive VP programming for Fox Television Stations, Frank Cicha. Will Hudson’s new show be up to the task? Only time will tell!
