Whether you’re a fan of Riverdale or Chilling Adventures of Sabrina – or both – you do not want to miss what Warner Brothers Television has in store for fans of the Archie Franchise. Soon, Riverdale will have a Sabrina crossover, one fans have been asking about for years!

Netflix Pair Sabrina With Warner Bros. TV’s Riverdale

That’s right! Warner Bros. TV just announced one of the most anticipated crossovers in recent years: Sabrina is coming to Riverdale! “Looks like someone is making the road trip from Greendale to Riverdale … See you in season 6, @kiernanshipka,” Warner Bros. television confirmed on Twitter last week. Along with confirming the rumors, they posted a picture of the Sabrina actress, Kiernan Shipka, sitting in a Riverdale chair with “Sabrina Spellman” printed on the back.

Just a few days later, showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa explained what made crossover happen to Entertainment Weekly. “We’ve been talking about having Sabrina visit Riverdale since season 1, so it’s thrilling that this is finally happening, as part of our ‘Rivervale’ special event,” he said in the interview. “It’s also perfect that she shows up to help Cheryl Blossom during her hour of greatest need. Everyone on set lost their minds – I think fans will, too. It’s really fun and special.”

For right now, the crossover will only last one episode, “The Witching Hour.” In the episode, Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) will read out a rather chilling spell – “one that may mean the difference between life and death for a beloved member of the Blossom family” – but she can’t perform it without a helping hand. Of, however, should the episode do well, there’s almost sure to be more in the future…

Legendary Crossover

Why did it take so long for this no-brainer crossover to occur? Well, it was something of a legal challenge to produce the crossover. First, although both shows are based on Archie Comics, they are on two different networks. Meanwhile, the two shows, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and Riverdale, have very tones. While Sabrina revolves around horror, magic, and witches, Riverdale is a dark mystery drama about life in a small town. However, it seems that the writers of both shows have managed to find the sweet spot in between!

One thing’s for sure, though: Sabrina always makes a splash, whenever she appears in comics, television, or movies. “When a character as classic and iconic as Sabrina comes to town, you know it has to have a big impact,” said Nick Spencer, a comic book writer on the Archie series. The sixth season of Riverdale will premiere on Warner Brothers’ new streaming service, Warner Bros. TV, on November 16.
