Lots of people celebrated Prince William and Kate Middleton‘s tenth anniversary right alongside them recently. Many shared their favorite moments of the 2011 royal wedding. From them walking down the aisle to their extravagant after-parties (yes, plural), many British Royal Family fans took to social media to reminisce. During this most recent anniversary, Prince William and Middleton’s harpist, Claire Jones, decided to share some previously unknown details about the wedding!
“He made a lovely little remark about me,” Jones recalled. “The first thing he said to me was, ‘Did you hear what I said in my speech?’ I said I did, but I asked him to remind me because I hadn’t heard it all.” After all, who would want to tell Prince William that they hadn’t actually been listening? “[Prince William] said, ‘Thank goodness Claire turned up to play the harp because otherwise, we’d have to get my brother to play it instead.'” While that might not seem like that bad of a joke, the Royal Family traditionally tries to stay away from even light ribbing of one another. Thankfully, everyone at the wedding found the joke funny. “I thought it was quite funny he said that. [Prince William] was very accommodating and warm. I wished them well, and I said I hoped they would have a happy and joyful life together.”
But Jones had much more to share with Royal Family fans about the 2011 Royal Wedding…

Thankfully, even Prince Harry found the joke hysterical! “The first member of the royal family to thank me was Prince Harry. He was really, really down-to-earth, very friendly and easy to talk to,” Jones said. “Straight away he said, ‘Thank you for being here and taking the time to play. It sounds wonderful.'” For those who don’t know, Jones worked as the Official Harpist to the Prince of Wales from 2007 to 2011. However, playing the wedding still ranks among her highest achievements ever. No kidding!
Meanwhile, Jones also had plenty of fascinating things to say about Kate Middleton as well! “She looked divine. But the first thing she said to me was, ‘Oh my goodness, you look gorgeous!'” the harpist recalled. “I thought she’s the star of the show. She loves fashion and is really into designers and knows her stuff, so it was really nice of her to say that.” The harpist concluded by wishing Prince William and Kate Middleton a happy tenth anniversary. “It’s a big achievement. They’ve really established themselves and everybody adores them which is wonderful for the future of the monarchy,” Jones said about the couple’s anniversary, congratulating them.
