It’s finally here Stranger Things fans: Netflix has released some exciting new looks at season four! Despite the delay due to coronavirus, the showrunners have promised season four will be “super worth the wait.”
Waiting For Stranger Things Season 4

Stranger Things lovers have waited a long time for the new season of the show – much longer than they’ve typically waited. Of course, like so many other shows, Stranger Things became delayed thanks to the coronavirus. However, the showrunners, the Duffer brothers, say that fans will be rewarded for the wait! “I’ll just say that we are long-delayed, and (show creators, the Duffer brothers) and I want to share Season 4 with the world as badly as the world wants it,” producer Shawn Levy told The Hollywood Reporter. “Part of what’s taking time is, long before Covid and the pandemic existed, Season 4 was built to be by far the most ambitious, cinematic, sprawling and epic season that we’ve ever done. By not just a little. By a lot.”
Coronavirus isn’t the only reason Stranger Things has taken longer to produce. The team needed not only to overcome the pandemic, but also the challenge of creating the next chapter of the story. While the first looks at the fourth season of the beloved, ’80s-based sci-fi horror show have been strange (no pun intended), fans know one crucial detail: Jim Hopper is alive!
Unpredictable Future

That’s right – fan-favorite Sheriff Jim Hopper is alive! Fans found this out during the sneak peek that ran during the closing ceremony of the Olympics. While the 30-second ad continued a mix of both old and new footage of Stranger Things, one thing is clear: Jim Hopper is coming back! The ad also confirmed some bad news: the new season of Stranger Things will not air until some time in 2022. Of course, a million questions remain, but fans will need to wait sometime to get the answers. Even worse: there’s not much left for Stranger Things. Previously the Duffer brothers have stated the show will likely end after the fifth season.
However, producer Shawn Levy says that the show will only get bigger and bigger as it barrels towards its conclusion. About the fourth season, Levy said it is “visually and narratively very ambitious, much more ambitious than the prior three seasons…. It also happens to be the season that we chose to go much bigger. It’s the scale of this season and the multi-settings of season four.”
