Amazon does not plan to stop creating new Echo and Alexa products. Recently the company revealed its largest Echo product to date, a large, 15-inch wall Echo, along with a ton of other items! Read on to see more…
The Echo Show 15
During the September 28 launch event, Amazon, one of the biggest companies in the world, revealed a new Echo product. However, the new Echo Show 15, created in the Lab126 division, is no ordinary Echo product. The new item has a 15.6-inch display that can easily be mounted to the wall or put on a large shelf. The mini-computer has plenty of built-in programs, called Alexa Widgets, which include everything from a calendar and sticky notes to shopping lists and a photo viewer, among many other items. Buyers can also connect the Echo Show 15 to their other home smart devices, like Ring cameras.
Meanwhile, the Echo Show 15, also known as the “Wall Echo” by online commenters, can also double as a small TV. Not only can you access all the options for streaming from Amazon, but you can also connect it to various other streaming services, like YouTube and Sling TV. Even more incredible, the mini-computer comes with built-in facial recognition to identify who is using the display. Based on the user it sees, the screen will change to their custom-built home page.
Sound amazing? Well, you can pick up an Echo Show 15 just before Christmas, for $249.99. Of course, that doesn’t include the shelf or mounting equipment. Meanwhile, the new Wall Echo was not the only new product that Amazon announced at their recent launch event. And two, in particular, are quite interesting…
Other New Products
One item that Amazon revealed is sure to be a hit with families: a new stand for the Amazon Echo Show 5 that turns it into a Mickey Mouse-like smart display. That’s right! And there’s a particular reason for this new release. You see, Disney and Amazon have worked together to create “Hey, Disney!” a new wake phrase and child-friendly experience. When a child says “Hey, Disney!” at the Echo Show 5, they can interact with various beloved Disney characters, hearing facts, stories, jokes, and more! If on vacation, the children can also find out about when a nearby Disney park opens, when a tram will arrive, or discover the wait time for a particular attraction. There’s one drawback: “Hey, Disney” will be a paid Alexa Skill when it launches next year.
However, by far, the most exciting product Amazon unveiled was the Amazon Astro, a robot that looks quite something out of Disney’s Wall-E. The robot will move about your house and, with its large screen, check on your home, loved ones, and even pets! Like most Amazon products, it can also connect to other apps in your house, like a Ring security account. Sadly for robot fans, Amazon Astro is a part of the brand’s “Day 1 Editions” program, meaning you’ll need to request an invite. But, if you’re accepted, you can pick up an early edition for $999. Meanwhile, it expects to start selling Astros to everyone sometime next year, for $1,499. What a future to behold!
