Meghan McCain has announced she’s leaving The View. Recently, the daytime talk show co-host opened up about leaving the show after four years, announcing she’ll depart by the end of July. “I will be here another month, so if you still want to fight a little more, we have four more weeks,” Meghan joked. However, her joke was not that far from the truth. As one of the most conservative people on the team of five women, she often argued with others. Most notably, in the past few months, she’s had on-air spars with Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar.
In a recent spat, Meghan accused Behar of not carrying enough about attacks on Jewish people. “I’ve been talking about antisemitism on this show for 25 freakin’ years,” Behar said. “Don’t tell me what I’m supposed to be saying, Meghan, OK? You do your thing, we do ours.”
Meghan says she loves working on the show, but spending time away from her Washington home and newborn is not easy. “This was not an easy decision,” she said. “It took a lot of thought and counsel and prayer.” Afterward, ABC News thanks the co-host for her “fierce determination and vast political knowledge and experience,” as well as sticking with the program for many years. Believe it or not, Meghan did not want to join The View at first! In fact, her father, Arizona Senator John McCain, encouraged her to do it!
Activity On The View

Meghan McCain certainly set herself as the controversial host by explaining former President Donald Trump’s views to the cast and audience. While she was not a big Trump fan, but felt that others needed to understand his supporters. “This is no shade at women who have been here before, but I knew going in that I couldn’t be intimidated by the others and their strong opinions,” she explained after the first season. “These are all smart, strong women. I had to stay true to my convictions and my politics and not let the physical audience in front of me, which is normally very liberal, or the audience on social media impact my politics. Because a lot of things I say are unpopular.”
Still, despite her fights with people, Behar supported Meghan’s new path and complimented the woman’s skills. “I have really, really appreciated the fact that you were a formidable opponent in many ways and that you spoke your mind,” she said. “You’re no snowflake, missy.”
