Everyone around the world loves actress and television pioneer Betty White. Sadly, just a few weeks shy of her centennial birthday, White passed away. Let’s remember her by taking a look back at her incredible impact on the entertainment world…
Betty White And Her Countless Achievements

Even Jeff Witjas, Betty White’s agent and very close friend, did not imagine White would ever pass away. “Even though Betty was about to be 100, I thought she would live forever,” Witjas wrote in a statement to People Magazine. “I will miss her terribly and so will the animal world that she loved so much. I don’t think Betty ever feared passing because she always wanted to be with her most beloved husband Allen Ludden. She believed she would be with him again.”
White, born in 1922, has remained one of the most iconic and respected women in all of Hollywood for many years. In fact, she was one of the first women to earn her own sitcoms, the 1930s’ classic Life with Elizabeth. Afterward, she moved on to another hit show, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, where White earned her first of many Emmys. However, today, the actress remains best known for her roles as Rose Nylund on The Golden Girls, the iconic ’80s sitcom.
White has starred in movies and television shows almost every single year since 1945, including parts in modern hits like Toy Story 4 and The Client List. Her last role came in the 2019 animated feature Trouble.

One of the first to react to the news of White’s passing was legendary writer and director Mel Brooks. “Sad news. No more Betty White. Too bad we couldn’t get another ten years of her always warm, gracious, and witty personality. She was one of a kind!,” he wrote on Twitter. Among the sweetest remembrances came from Ryan Reynolds, who starred alongside White in the 2009 film The Proposal. In his statement, Reynolds said that the “world looks different now.”
“She was great at defying expectation,” Reynolds continued in the statement. “She managed to grow very old and somehow, not old enough. We’ll miss you, Betty. Now you know the secret.” Amazingly, it was not just former co-stars and fellow entertainers who commented on White’s passing. “She’s a cultural icon who will be sorely missed,” President Joe Biden tweeted on Friday. “Jill and I are thinking of her family and all those who loved her this New Year’s Eve.”
Likewise, the U.S. Army also tweeted condolences, as White not only served during World War II, but also helped veterans all her life. “Not only was she an amazing actress, she also served during WWII as a member of the American Women’s Voluntary Services,” the Army tweeted. “A true legend on and off the screen.”
Rest in peace, Betty White; you truly were one of a kind.
