After sharing photos of her new look for months, Rebel Wilson has opened up about why she lost weight. Eventually, the actress wants to have a child!
Rebel Wilson’s Fitness Motivation
These days, comedy legend Rebel Wilson doesn’t hide anything from her fans. In her latest chat on social media, she opened up about her “Year of Health” in 2020. During the talk, she also opened up about why she lost the weight: she wants to have a child one day. So, it became the main inspiration for her to lose weight!
“[Why I lost weight] is such a massive question, but I’m going to try to answer it for you,” Wilson said. “It first started when I was going through, looking into fertility stuff and the doctor was like, ‘Well, you’d have a much better chance if you were healthier.’ I was actually a bit offended because I thought — even though I was bigger — I thought I was pretty healthy.”
“That’s, kind of, what started it, that if I lost some excess weight, that it would give me a better chance for freezing eggs and having the eggs be a better quality,” the 41-year-old actress added. While it might have started with her future children in mind, Wilson says she now feels better than ever! Meanwhile, it’s far from the first time Wilson has talked about her desire to have a child…
Trying To Have A Child
Wilson has made it clear that she wants a child and that it won’t be easy. Recently, she opened up about her struggles to have a child on Instagram. “I got some bad news today… To all the women out there struggling with fertility, I feel ya,” Wilson captioned a photo in May. “The universe works in mysterious ways and sometimes it all doesn’t make sense…but I hope there’s light about to shine through all the dark clouds.” Later, Wilson revealed she has polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), one of the biggest causes of infertility for women.
Of course, Wilson is far from the only one who has experienced these kinds of problems. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention states that just over 6% of women from 15 to 44 years old are infertile. While PCOS is a very serious disease, obesity makes it even worse. So, Wilson decided to do everything she could to better her chances as she grows older!
In addition to talking about her fertility issues, Wilson has also used her Instagram Live sessions to explain why she didn’t lose weight sooner. “When you’re stuck in movie contracts, like as you guys know I play Fat Amy in ‘Pitch Perfect’ — that’s my absolute favorite character — and so when I kind of got to the point where I thought OK, this might not be any more ‘Pitch Perfects’ with us,” Wilson explained. “Then I was like OK, it’s now time I can kind of drastically change my image,” she continued. “So I went for it — 2020 was the year of health.”
These days, Wilson loves her healthy life. We wish her the best of luck whenever she decides to try and have a child!
