YouTube star Lilly Singh has goodbye to her late-night show, A Little Late. After just two seasons, the host will move on to bigger and better things. Read on to see what they are…
Lilly Singh Says Goodbye To Late-Night
Sadly, YouTube star Lilly Singh’s late-night show, A Little Late with Lilly Singh, will end after two seasons. However, if you’re a fan, don’t worry! Even after the season finale on June 3, Singh will remain on TV. Now, though, she will work on more open-ended projects with both NBC and Netflix. “I’m excited to take this next step in my relationship with NBCUniversal and launch a new partnership between my company Unicorn Island Productions and Universal Television Alternative Studio,” she said. “This is a career step that I could only dream of when I started out as a creator, and I look forward to working alongside their team to create projects that bring underrepresented voices to the forefront.”
According to Singh, her goals have changed. Now, she wants to focus on “underrepresented stories,” and found it challenging to do the same thing day in and day out. Though, as others have pointed out, the numbers were also starting to drop. So, what will NBC do with the time 1:30 AM time slot? Well, after having both Carson Daly and then Singh try out late-night shows, they will apparently try something else entirely in the space. Meanwhile, Singh has big plans, which she recently hinted at…
What’s Next For Lilly Singh
Many took the news of Singh’s departure with a heavy heart. After all, she was one of the few women with a late-night show. So, come June, Samantha Bee will remain the only woman hosting a late-night show, with her TBS show Full Frontal. Thankfully, as stated, Singh will not disappear or return to YouTube exclusively. Instead, she’s currently working on a new show with Kenya Barris, the creator of Black-ish. Singh will also produce the comedy with Polly Auritt, who also works for Unicorn Island Productions, as well as TV veterans Nell Scovell and Diya Mishra. The star says she will continue to work with NBC, just not on a late-night show.
“This is just the beginning; I can’t wait to share more with you but this is all I can tease for now. I’m beyond grateful for your support past, present and future,” Singh wrote. “And to the Late With Lilly crew, I’m so proud of the progress we made in diversifying late night. We’ve given 21 people their late-night debut this season! That’s pretty incredible and it’s been a true honour.” We cannot wait to see what this hilarious comedian will do next!
