Months after leaving their posts in the British royal family, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle seem to have finally found their forever home in the United States.
TMZ reports that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have recently dropped a whopping $14 million in one of California’s star-studded neighborhoods.
Under the Radar
The couple, who’ve been making strides to ensure their family’s privacy, kept the purchase under wraps. Thus, their new residence’s location was initially unknown to the public.
This isn’t really surprising considering the most recent breach Prince Harry and Markle has had to deal with. They are reportedly in a legal battle against a photography agency that sneakily took photos of their son Archie in the backyard of the current home the family is staying at in Beverly Hills.
Now, sources are saying that the family is moving on to start a home of their own in a nine-bedroom home in Montecito, California. The neighborhood has long been famous among other famous people with celebrities like Oprah Winfrey, George Lucas, and Ellen DeGeneres.
Chateau of Riven Rock
The said property was identified to be an 18,000-square-foot estate called the ‘Chateau of Riven Rock’, which the couple purchased for $14.65 million through an anonymous trust.
Aside from the location of the home, which offers the family more privacy from the nosey press, the mansion has plenty of other perks to offer the royals.
For starters, it comes with its own gym, saunas, home theater, and arcade that could accommodate its new residents’ needs without having to constantly leave the property. There’s also plenty of lawn space and a swimming pool to be found.
The estate was reportedly once owned by a Russian businessman, who first bought the mansion for $25 million.
Previous Abode
It is still unclear whether Prince Harry and his family have already moved out of director Tyler Perry’s $18-million mansion, where they’ve been staying since coming to Los Angeles.
There are reports though of how the royal couple made some changes to the home to ensure their privacy. Prince Harry and Markle reportedly had privacy screens installed at the 24,500-square-foot property after they realized how nearby hikers can see into the home’s grounds.
Despite its exclusive location in the Beverly Ridge Estate, photographers still managed to sneak photos of the couple’s one-year-old son, which resulted in a privacy lawsuit.
